--The village school is progressing finely ly under the tutorship of Miss Emma Hennig of Plover. The average daily attendance is 35. --John Finch has purchased J.B. Newtons farm near the Junction, consisting of 170 acres and will improve the same for a stock farm. --The Wisconsin Central depot and office are in charge of J.

E. Burns in the absence of J. W. Holt, our popular agent, who is in Michigan visiting his family and friends, --Henry Johnson, one of the first settlers the town of Stevens Point, has rented his place in. that town and will remove this week to Alexandria, near which place he has bought an improved farm.

--Thomas Landers was in town on election day. Besult: The candidate he opposed, Geo. E. Oster, was re-elected by a greatly increased majority. The voters of the town of Carson have learned to think, act and vote as their interests demand.

In some grades, during the last week, the per cent, of attendance falls from as high as .98 to .75. The only way teachers can account for this is that parents do not realize the necessity of pupils being in attendance the last week as well as the first. It is to be hoped that this will be borne in mind in the future and extra effort made, if necessary, in maintaining a lull attendance up to the last day of school. --A request was brought before our town board shortly before election, by parties who were going to build a saloon and sell fire water, to grant them license for the same. The board decided to lay the matter before the voters at the annual town meeting and the result was a uniinous vote against granting a license.
